Position: Automation Support Manager

Description: Manage an automation infrastructure and robotics support group that is responsible for facilitating and servicing scientific instrumentation, and constructing and developing automated assay system platforms. Oversee and prioritize service and development requests for staff and contractors across two local sites. Oversee operations and safety for machining and fabrication shops. Partner with the Biomedical Engineering group and external vendors to source fabrication and development projects. Liaise with facilities and external vendors to ensure appropriate utilities and environmental resources are implemented for system builds. Partner with Lab Asset Management team, scientific leaders, and external vendors to ensure appropriate service contracts and relationships are implemented and maintained. Facilitate generation of capital requests for equipment and resources. Collaborate with scientific partners to implement equipment standardization, capital footprint reduction, and obsolete instrument mitigation strategies. Responsible for generating metrics on instrument and system availability, reliability, and utilization. Develop and implement methods for measuring and improving customer satisfaction and service quality. Work in and lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment. This position will be located at our office in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Requirements: • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in an Engineering field with at least 8 years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, and significant experience with maintaining laboratory instrumentation • Minimum 3 years direct supervisory experience • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with strong customer focus • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working in diverse, multi-disciplined work groups • Ability to work in a matrixed and multi-site work environment, manage multiple priorities, and at times, be self directed • Highly developed project management skills • Excellent written and communication skills • Preferred experience with Thermo and Staubli robotics platforms • Preferred experience or formal training in Lean, Six Sigma, or service operations management methodologies • Preferred experience with SolidWorks, SharePoint, MS Visio, MS Project • Preferred experience with machining and fabrication techniques
