St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders. Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Principal HTS Scientist (Job Number 17633).

The High-throughput Screening (HTS) Center at St. Jude is part of the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics, which works, together with other St. Jude researchers, in discovering and developing new chemical entities as tools for translational research or as therapeutic leads for the treatment of catastrophic pediatric diseases. We employ state-of-the-art automation and assay technologies, and an on-site library of 525,000 compounds. In addition, we are developing whole-genome RNA-interference technology. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated leader to join this exciting effort.

The Principal HTS Scientist collaborates, leads and implements projects, manages the daily activities of the HTS Center, supervises scientists, and presents and/or publishes research results. Collaborates with researchers to develop and configure biological assays for HTS, to develop methodologies and new technologies for HTS; Leads and implements HTS projects, conducts data analysis, quality control and management; Manages project scheduling and progression, and laboratory safety, ensures that laboratory complies with regulatory requirements, develops and improves SOP, and assists Director of HTS in budget and contract management; Supervises the work of scientists in assay development and HTS, automation and compound reformatting; Presents research results internally and externally, leads or participates in preparation of manuscripts for publications in peer-review journals.

Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field; PhD in biological sciences preferred. 10 years of relevant experience is required with a Bachelor's degree; 9 years of relevant experience is acceptable with a Master's degree; 5 years of relevant experience is acceptable with a PhD.
Experience in assay development, automation, HTS, personnel supervision and project management.
Experience in high-content screening and RNAi technology, and a strong publication record are a plus.
