Call For Nominations

Midwest LRIG Inc. is accepting nominations for three positions on the Executive Committee until September 30, 2010:

Vice President - Serve as proxy chair of board meetings in absence of president, work closely with President to meet goals of the chapter, work with committees as needed, and attend Midwest LRIG functions throughout Midwest. Per Midwest LRIG by-law, the Vice President automatically becomes President after serving a two-year term as VP.

Secretary - Send reminders and schedule monthly conference call, distributes agenda prior to each meeting, records and distribute minutes of all board meetings, assists President as requested, arranges logistical details for meetings as requested, and works with all committees to facilitate communication and assist with activities.

Program Committee Chairperson - Generates ideas for themes and speakers for Midwest LRIG meetings and conferences. Works with President to identify and appoint Program Committee members. Requires close working relationship with Secretary to recruit and provide logistical support (arrange travel, lodging, etc.) for speakers who are presenting their research on topics relevant to meeting theme.

Commitment for all positions is a monthly 1-hour conference call plus volunteering a few hours average per month to fulfill action items, mostly related to arranging meetings. Although the main benefit is networking with other individuals interested in Labautomation, another tangible benefit is that Midwest LRIG will pay for your membership to ALA/SLAS the year you serve.

All nominations are to be sent via e-mail to the Elections Committee Chair, Tom Strader, with your choice of position for which to be considered and a short bio which will be distributed and posted on the website. Self-nominations are accepted. Submissions will be accepted until September 17th, 2010.

Candidate biographies will be distributed to the Midwest LRIG member list on September 20th, 2010.

Web-based voting will start October 1, 2010. Members will be contacted then with details.

The balloting process will be completed by October 6th, 2010. Results will be posted the website soon thereafter.

Please contact Tom if you have any questions.
